#11 Another Typical Day in Leipzig

Hallo aus Leipzig! Today was another normal school day for the kids attending classes, giving presentations, taking the streetcar to a museum after school… oh wait, maybe not totally normal. 😊

Today was a really fun day. Clara and I had school starting around 8 AM until 3:40 PM. We had to catch the tram to take us to school which is so interesting to me because I had never heard of a tram before coming to Germany, and now I’m on it almost every day.

I had my presentation first thing this morning, and I presented to a group of 11th graders who were pretty much fluent in English which made my life a lot easier 😂. My presentation was on my daily schedule going to school and living in the US. It went really well, and some people had great questions about my classes.

After my presentation, Clara and I headed to the city shopping center to help her mom do a little shopping. We also went to the Lindt chocolate store. Clara and I had two more classes and then we went to get ice cream which was super good! All in all, today was another amazing day as an exchange student living in Germany!

I started my school day with two presentations about my free time activities. Both presentations went smoothly and I spoke in English. I would have liked to do my presentations in German, but it was an English class. The 5th graders I was presenting to seemed really interested and asked me about my favorite things (colors, sports teams, etc.). It was fun to tell them about what I do with my free time. At the end of my second presentation, I asked the students if they would like to visit the United States, and most of them raised their hand saying yes.

After school, Marvin and I went to the Museum of Musical Instruments. I enjoyed seeing all the unique instrument designs, the organs, and the outdated and no longer used instruments. I was also able to play on a clavichord. It was a wonderful experience. Afterwards, I went to the Museum of Fine Arts (Museum der Bildenen Kunste) to see some cool artwork. I enjoyed the exhibits though I don’t analyze artworks to every fine detail like some others do.

Finally, I ended the day playing some NHL 22 and going to a German supermarket. The supermarket was relatively big, but of course small by American standards. For the most part, supermarkets are the same here, but I see more variety in products available. We bought several foods to go with some bread. Overall, the supermarket was similar to an American one, albeit with an excellent selection of bakery items.
